New Thread/Reply Options
Thread/Reply options are also enhanced as shown in the graphic below. Discussion Board threads have become self contained. Additional changes to the Thread View include:
- New flagging options are used to mark important or special postings (by an individual).
- The Subscribe button allows users to be notified via e-mail whenever a thread is updated. (If the option is enabled by the professor.)
New navigation options allow for easier access to Discussion Board posts. These tools are used to display additional information or navigate through each thread or reply. Options available include:
- Parent Post button embeds the main thread in the reply window
- Previous and Next post buttons are used to navigate through discussion board threads
- Star rating system may be added for peer reviews (availability based on forum settings)
- Automatically embed a thread as a quote in a discussion board post
- Save posts as a draft until ready to be published. Only the author of the post is able to view saved posts. Use the Submit button to post a thread to the discussion board for all to see.
Example: In this graphic the Discussion Board posts or threads and the replies appear in the top of the window and the messages themselves will appear below. Using navigation options users may customize the view, rate the post, and navigate through all discussion board threads.
