Welcome! This Web site is for online students, faculty, staff and guests at Framingham State College. Here you will find information about our online programs, both Web-based and Web-enhanced.
Online courses have been part of the curriculum at Framingham State College since 1998. The first online course was delivered to students from a web site. In 2000 Blackboard was adopted by Framingham State College as it's Learning Management System (LMS). Since that time thousands of students have enrolled in our totally asynchronous classes and the numbers continue to rise.
Blackboard is used to complement and supplement our web-based course offerings. Ease of use continues to be a major characteristic of the e-learning system. Students who use Blackboard experience an improved course navigation, enhanced online collaboration tools and control over their Blackboard home page. Not sure if online is for you. Check out our FAQ or contact us by email or phone 508 626-4927.
Along with our online programs, the number of Web-enhanced classes in our undergraduate day programs is also growing. These courses are taught in campus-based classrooms and laboratories and are supplemented by online tools. Many of these courses are linked to our wireless laptop program through which students access their course materials and interactive tools anytime/anywhere.
Quality Programs. While we continue to be pleased with the growth of our programs, numbers alone do not tell the entire story. We constantly emphasize quality in online course design and in online teaching. Without built-in quality we would not experience a pattern of continued growth. Check out our online course schedule.
Online Instructors. Once an instructor signs on to teach an online class, they become part of our growing online community. Professional Development workshops and individual training sessions are available at any time.
Each instructor is asked to follow these Online Syllabus guidelines. A course syllabus provides direction and focus for faculty and students alike. Criteria include introduction and course objectives, course requirements, grading procedure, list of topics or modules in the order covered with brief description of each, and reading list or course resources. See sample syllabus.
